You will need GCSEs in English Maths and Science at grade 5 or above, or equivalent.

You will learn through a mixture of theory, practical, lab work, research and self-study.

You will usually be on campus three days per week, plus one day of work experience at various times during the year.

As a requirement for progression to university within the veterinary science sector, you will need to have a minimum of six weeks of external work experience with the animal/veterinary sector. You will undertake on site work experience with our Animal Management Cetnre, Farm and Equine Centre. You will observe activities such as vists from vets, farriers and veterinary physiotherapists, as well as gaining hands on experience with a wide range of species
You will be assessed through course work, written assignments, practical assessments and exams.

  • College-branded blue kennel coat
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including steel toe capped footwear (boots, shoes, or wellies)
  • Waterproof outdoor clothing and footwear (for work experience)
  • Stationery, including paper, pens, pencils and a folder to organise theory work
On successful completion of this course you will be able to progress to study at degree level.
The progression opportunities that this course provides will allow you to explore a range of careers, including: Veterinary medicine, veterinary nursing, veterinary physiotherapist, bioveterinary scientist, scientific research, animal science technician
This course costs £5,760. You may qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan or, dependent on your age and previous qualifications, you may be able to access adult skills funding. We will be able to advise on funding once we have received your application.
