Bishop Burton College is excited to announce their first ever Employer Awards to thank industry partners for the support and opportunities they give our students.

The event, which is taking place during National Careers Week, will be an interactive evening including a demonstration of many of the exciting solar energy-powered technologies being used across the campus. A panel including employers who support the college with apprenticeships, industry placements and T Level placements will showcase for other partners how the process works, the associated benefits and positive impact of working with students and the college. Employers will then have the chance to provide insight into how the college could continue to develop its curriculum, to support the future of industry, during round table discussions.

Andy Black, Assistant Principal Services to Business said “We’re very excited to launch these awards to recognise the huge contribution employers make to our provision for students. Delivering specialist, technical education of a vocational nature we are dedicated to ensuring students leave us prepared and ready for the world of work. To support this, all courses include an element of practical work experience, so the relationships we have built and established with employers are essential to the college, not to mention invaluable for the students. This is our opportunity to thank our employer partners for their support and acknowledge the huge contribution they make.”

The college works with over 500 employers across the region to deliver apprenticeships, mentoring, industry work experience and placements as part of the new T Level qualifications. These relationships are vital to the college, helping to develop and cultivate the next generation of the workforce across a wide range of industry sectors.

Deputy Principal and Deputy Chief Executive, Kirsti Lord commented “At Bishop Burton we are always conscious of ensuring our students are aware of the changing needs of industry and future career pathways. We always consider the opportunities for sustainable and successful careers when developing the curriculum, to ensure we are meeting the local and national needs. This is a fantastic opportunity for us to consult with our employers to understand how the college can support them and in turn how they can provide input to the development of our curriculum and courses to make them and our students fit for the future.”

The highlight and culmination of the evening will be the Awards themselves, featuring awards for apprenticeship employer of the year, employer mentor of the year, placement employer of the year, most supportive employer of the year and most student-recommended employer of the year.
