Read on to find out how former student Lucy Cox was able to follow her passion on a journey of personal growth and transform it into professional success.
Lucy Cox's UCBB Story:
Securing a place on the BSc Bioveterinary Science for Lucy was a massive achievement. The chance to study a subject in which she had a deep interest was incredibly exciting, and she threw herself into her studies. She found a vibrant and engaging environment which allowed her to flourish both personally and academically.
“Firstly, what I enjoyed most about UCBB was the facilities they had to offer,” Lucy says. “As someone who loves to learn in a more practical way, I found it stimulating to be able to apply the knowledge I learnt in lectures to the animals on the unit. And not only are the facilities amazing but the lecturers had such a depth of knowledge in their field; I felt lucky to have learnt from such experienced tutors.
Secondly, the UCBB community is exceptional in its support for young adults to develop independently while respecting their need for personal growth. This community has a unique understanding of the importance of cultivating individuality.”
Advice to Future Students:
Starting out a new course can feel daunting. For prospective degree students, Lucy offers some key advice:
“My best piece of advice would be to make the most out of your time at UCBB. Don't be afraid to ask for help when you need it, whether it's from your tutors, classmates or extra support facilities, the access to free academic support really helped me to begin gaining the higher grades in my work.
Finally, stay organized, and manage your time effectively, but always remember to have fun, enjoy your time at this wonderful institution and make unforgettable friends and memories for life.”
