University Centre Bishop Burton (UCBB) will be your home from home.
You can choose either self-catered or half-board halls, both of which give you access to:
If you opt for our self-catered halls, you’ll also have access to a full oven and a hob.
If you choose half-board, you’ll get £1,000 food card included in the cost to spend within our catering outlets. Perfect if you don’t fancy cooking every day!
Our accommodation is rated Outstanding by Ofsted and we want you to feel as happy and safe as possible whilst you’re living with us. We have 24-hour security on campus and access to the halls is by swipe card or key only. We also have CCTV in operation across the site, which covers the front doors of our halls of residence.
Please note that the room and kitchen style varies depending on the accommodation type.
For the 2024/25 academic year, half board rooms will cost £6,762, which includes £1,000 food card. Self-catering rooms will cost £5,913.
To complete your application, you will need to pay a reservation fee of £250. This £250 is converted to a damage deposit and is held until the end of the academic year.
To make sure that everyone living on campus is safe, we organise Portable Appliance Testing, which takes place during the first term. This costs £2.50 per item, which will be deducted from your room deposit at the end of the year.
Have you decided you'd like to live on campus? Once you have accepted a place with us you'll be able to apply for your room online.
Applications for accommodation open in November for the following academic year. We continue to take applications until the accommodation is full, at which point we open a waiting list in case anyone changes their mind.
We operate an allocation policy, with first-year students having priority if they:
Our student accommodation is open throughout term times but is closed during college breaks such as Christmas, Easter and over the summer between academic years.
At the weekends, the campus is usually quieter. However, we do run a supermarket trip every Friday night and trips every other weekend for those students who choose not to go home.
Each room comes with furniture such as a bed, desk and wardrobe.
All of the kitchens have a fridge, kettle, toaster and microwave. Our self-catered halls also have a full oven and a hob. Students must provide their own crockery. Small tabletop fridges are allowed in your room, but no additional cooking equipment is permitted.
You must provide your own bedding – bottom sheet, duvet and cover, pillow and case, and towels. You are permitted to bring in equipment such as a radio or TV providing it doesn't disrupt others. Please note if you bring a TV you will need your own TV licence.
Your student ID also acts as your food card, so you don't need to carry anything else around with you.
If you opt for half-board, you will be given £1,000 towards food. This money acts as an allowance towards your total food purchases whilst living at Bishop Burton. You can use it at any of our catering outlets. We have five on-campus: Digby Watt's, Bishop’s Table, Ostlers, Meadows and Canters.
The money is divided into three termly allowances of £400 for each of terms one and two, and £200 for term three. You can top up to add more money online.
Yes, you can! All incoming student mail goes to our Post Room and you'll be able to collect it by showing your student ID.
Fees are payable in three termly instalments - 40% of the charge at the beginning of terms one and two and the final 20% at the beginning of term three.
If you do not qualify for a Residential Bursary, please contact us as we may be able to offer alternative payment options.
If you decide to withdraw from/are removed from accommodation due to disciplinary action before the end of the academic year, you will still be required to pay the accommodation fee for the remainder of the year unless your room is re-let to a student who is not already residential.
