Environmental Conservation Degree Courses

Are you passionate about a career in the environmental sector?

At UCBB, you’ll have the opportunity to explore a wide variety of topics, from ecology, ecosystems, habitats, species, wildlife conservation and ecological principles to policy, legislation and global issues. You’ll also look at threats to the natural world and biodiversity, plus methods to counter them.

With the expert guidance of our experienced lecturers, you’ll develop skills in research, data gathering and analysis, surveying, and project management.

You’ll also benefit from highly relevant work experience placements, and from lecture visits from leaders in the environmental and conservation fields.

Your learning environment

UCBB has extensive facilities across our 360-hectare campus, including grassland, woodland, arable and conservation areas. You’ll be able to truly embrace the subject working on our historic parkland and engage with our increasing range of research activities.

Whether its exploring wetland reserves around the Humber estuary, or observing the puffins at Bempton Cliffs, you’ll also be perfectly placed to develop your knowledge with fascinating locations nearby.

To support your learning and employment opportunities, we have built up a wide range of industry contacts including the Wildlife Trusts in Lincolnshire and Yorkshire, Lincolnshire Chalk Streams Project, Yorkshire Water, East Riding of Yorkshire Council, Natural England, Spurn Bird Observatory, Yorkshire Coast Nature and Wold Ecology. You’ll benefit from a range of guest speakers and will get the opportunity to work alongside site managers.

Chris Scott

Environmental Conservation Programme Leader

Chris has a wealth of experience which he has used to develop the range of Environmental Conservation programmes at UCBB.

Working towards a masters degree in Wildlife Biology and Conservation, Chris has worked extensively with conservation groups and other voluntary sector organisations, such as The Conservation Volunteers and Hull CVS. He is currently involved in national research projects focused on bio-diversity and sustainability, that students get the opportunity to participate in.
