We provide a practical, real-world approach to learning for those who want to work with children from birth to seven years. The course has a strong practical emphasis, including extensive work experience to build up your knowledge and skills and support you to progress to the T Level

Four GCSEs at grade 3 or D or equivalent, including English and Maths, or a relevant Level 1 qualification. A satisfactory reference and clear Disclosing and Barring Service (DBS) check are also required.

A mixture of practical and theory with guest speakers, visits and links to placement

One year full-time, normally in college three days a week.

Assignments and practical tasks
  • For your course, you will need:Folder with dividers to organise your work and assignments.A clear, enhanced DBS will also be required (applied for through the college), a uniform for placement to include plain black trousers, shoes and a college branded polo shirt.Stationery including notepad for use in class, pens and pencilsA laptop or tablet will also be useful.
Further study is available on the Level 3 course run at the college, subject to achieving GCSE Maths and English at grade 4 or above.
Level 2 qualifications provide you with the knowledge and skills you need for working under supervision in nursery and crhe care, in playgroup and pre-school environments, and in classroom support.
